Independence gubernatorial candidate B. Thomas Golisano called for a repeal of New York's Rockefeller Drug Laws, calling them ineffective and racially biased.
Saying Republican Gov. George Pataki hasn't delivered on his promise to change the strict 1973 drug laws, Golisano proposed a plan to lower minimum sentences and give judges more discretion to send people to treatment rather than prison, issues that have divided state officials in the debate. Golisano plans to launch a TV ad campaign Wednesday promoting the plan in English and Spanish.
