Qld: Dangerous laser pointer could cause eye damage
A laser pointer which could cause eye damage has been withdrawn from sale in Queenslandand could be banned nationwide.
Queensland Fair Trading Minister MERRI ROSE says the Chinese-made Powerful Laser pointerGun Model P39 is a health hazard and shouldn't be given to children as a toy.
She says it's been withdrawn from sale and she expects to announce soon that it's beencompletely banned.
The laser, which was sold for around $14, sent out a dot beam and other images.
It's about 12cm long and shaped like a toy gun.
A spokeswoman for the Office of Fair Trading says other states are also in the processof banning the pointer or withdrawing it from sale.
