NSW: Three dead in country, city road accidents

SYDNEY, April 17 AAP - Three people, including a child, were killed in two separate car
accidents on NSW roads today, the ambulance service said.

A man and a child were killed when their car hit a tree in the State's south west this
afternoon.

Another person died when the car they were in struck a power pole in Sydney's south a short
time ago, an ambulance spokesman said.

Two boys and a woman were also injured in the earlier crash, when a car left the Mid
Western Highway, 35km north of Goolgowi, near Griffith at about 3pm.

A 13-year-old boy received head injuries, while an 11-year-old boy escaped with only minor
injuries, an ambulance spokeswoman said.

A 39-year-old woman trapped in the vehicle, had lower back injuries and a fractured left
wrist.

All three patients were transported to Griffith Hospital in a stable condition.

In the second accident, on the corner of Oak Road and the Princes Highway, in Kirrawee, a
number of power lines were brought down in the immediate area, a spokesman said.

He said the dead person may have had a heart attack before the accident. A second person
from the car was taken to Sutherland District Hospital with minor injuries, he said.

No other details about the deceased were immediately available.

The three fatalities bring this year's NSW State road toll to 184, compared to 156 last
year.
